Our featured artist this week is Quincy Jones. Born Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. in Chicago
on March 14, 1933, Jones was a record producer, songwriter, and arranger who
earned 28 Grammy’s during his seven decade career.
Starting as a trumpet player in Lionel Hampton and Dizzy Gillespie’s bands,
Jones quickly became known for his arrangements and production skills.
He produced three classic Ray Charles albums, plus albums
for such greats as Dinah Washington and Count Basie.
Quincy Jones died in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
He was 91.
