Our featured artist is Candye Kane. Born Candice Caleb in Ventura, California, on November 13, 1961, Candye Kane loved to sing as a young girl and even appeared
on “The Gong Show.” She dreamed of a career in music, but worked in the adult entertainment industry briefly to finance her musical ambitions. She studied opera at
USC and sang in punk and country band before finding success as an award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer in the blues and jazz genres.
Candye Kane died in 2016 after a heroic eight-year battle with cancer.
For today’s show, we feature three of Candye’s performances along the original
versions of blues & R&B classics she covered during her three decade career.
