Pee Wee Crayton is our featured artist today. Born Connie Curtis Crayton in
Rockdale, Texas, on December 18, 1914, Crayton’s career as a blues and
R&B guitarist and singer spanned seven decades.
Heavily influenced by T-Bone Walker, one of Crayton’s first recordings,
the instrumental “Blues After Hours” reached number on the
national R&B chart in 1948.
Crayton scored several R&B hits on the national and regional
R&B charts in the late 1940s through the early 1950s, and continued
playing and recording until shortly before his death in 1985.
