FEATURE: JOHNNY MOORE
Johnny Moore was an R&B guitarist and vocalist who is best known as the
founder of Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers with Charles Brown and Eddie Williams.
He was born John Dudley Moore in Austin, Texas on October 20, 1906.
He is credited with composing “Merry Christmas Baby” and “Drifting Blues”
(although, this has been disputed by Charles Brown,

Charles Brown went solo. For some reason, Johnny Moore kept hiring singers &
pianists who sounded a lot like Charles Brown.

FEATURE: JUNIOR WATSON
Born Michael Watson in Tulare, California on October 15, 1949, Junior Watson is an influencial West Coast and jump blues guitarist. Watson was a founding member of The Mighty Flyers with Rod Piazza and played with the reconstituted Canned Heat throughout the 1990s.

Known professionally as Piano Red and later in life as Dr. Feelgood,
Willie Lee Perryman was the first American blues musician to hit the
pop music charts. He was born Willie Lee Perryman near Hampton,

Jean-Baptiste “Illinois” Jacquet was born in Broussard, Louisana on October 31, 1922. He was an American jazz tenor saxophonist, composer and bandleader who entered the national spotlight as the featured soloist on Lionel Hampton’s hit
recording of “Flying Home” in 1952.
