page and, often, in the same song. Our primary focus is on the music of the
Jump Blues Era of the 1940s which blended into the early Rock & Roll Era
of the 1950s, and follow on how those styles and artists have evolved over
the years. We also bring you jazz from the era along with the occasional page
from the Great American Songbook.

Today we bring you the third and final part of our annual tribute to
Louis Jordan, the king of the jukebox. Born Louis Thomas Jordan in
Brinkley, Arkansas, on July 8, 1908. Jordan was a saxophonist,
multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and bandleader who was popular from
the late 1930s to the early 1950s. He earned his highest profile
towards the end of the jump blues era. He was inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an “early influence” in 1987.
