Although it was never a national hit, “Inflation Blues” did make the Top 10 on the Cash Box Regional R&B Charts for New York, New Orleans, and Los Angeles in April and May of 1947. The song bemoans the impact of rising prices in the years after World War II. In 1947, the annual rate of inflation was over 14%.
